A Correlational Analysis of Bureaucratic Administrative Structures and Document Processing Efficiency in Local Government Administration: Basis for Administrative Improvement in Paranaque City Hall

The study sought to find the connection between the presence of bureaucratic administrative structure and document processing efficiency in Parañaque City Hall. More particularly, it assessed the extent of bureaucracy in terms of hierarchical structure, rule and procedure, specialization, and control; as well as the extent of document processing efficiency as reflected in terms of processing time, correctness of documents, availability of services, and client satisfaction. The study utilized a descriptive-correlational study which used a quantitative approach. There were a hundred participants, made up of BSOA students and citizen respondents selected through convenience sampling. The data gathered from the participants using a self-structured questionnaire were analyzed using frequency and percentage distribution, weighted mean, and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient.
It was established that the strength of bureaucratic administrative structures had a score of Strongly Agree with a mean of 3.36, whereas document processing efficiency had a score of Strongly Agree with a mean of 3.27. Amongst the bureaucratism variables, hierarchical authority had the highest score, while amongst the efficiency variables, accuracy of documents had the highest score. A strong positive relationship between bureaucratism and document processing efficiency was also established, having a correlation coefficient of 0.67. This shows that the efficient performance of document processing is highly influenced by effective administrative structures. The study has concluded that proper administrative structures coupled with modern techniques can enhance the organizational performance.
